Description: STUDIES IN AMERICAN ART FROM THE COLONIAL ERA TO 1920 ***** This course will examine a range of topics in U.S. art from the colonial era to World War II. Some themes to be addressed will include representations of landscape and their relation to American culture nationalism; social realism vs. modernist abstract images; and representations of general subjectivity in American visual culture. ***** Enrollment limited to 40.
