Description: MAPPING GERMAN CULTURE: EUROPEAN WOMEN FILMMAKERS ***** DISTRIBUTION COURSE GROUP 1 ***** Filmmaking has celebrated its first hundred years. Women's contributions were significant and deserve to widen the film canon for all filmgoers. The course will concentrate on films by European women directors, taking into account historical pioneering, cultural identities, aesthetic particularities, gender commitment, subject orientations and post-feminist attempts. Importance will also be given to the contexts and conditions of women's film production. All films are subtitled in English. Taught in English with possible FLAC section. ***** Also offered as GERM 321.
