Description: GOVERNMENT & POLITICS OF THE MIDDLE EAST ***** This course provides an introduction to politics in the Middle East. A brief historical overview is combined with detailed description of political systems in the area. The region is then used to examine empirically, critique and revise theories of comparative politics. A central issue is the extent to which the region should be considered unique or exceptional.
