Description: VICTORIAN INTELLECTUALS ***** Study of the upheaval in late 19th-century social thought and culture caused in part by Darwin's theory of evolution, with emphasis on American readings, using English and continental writers for comparsion. May include Spencer, Veblen, Henry Adams, William James, Dewey, Matthew Arnold, and Nietzsche. Not offered 2003-2004.
