Long Title:
Department: English
Grade Mode: Standard Letter
Course Type: Lecture
Distribution Group: Distribution Group I
Credit Hours: 3
Description: SHAKESPEARE ***** DISTRIBUTION COURSE GROUP 1 ***** Elizabethan and Jacobean England produced the greatest plays in English--perhaps in any language--and nurtured a theater more closely integrated into the life of its society than any we have known since. How did this happen? Why? What effect did it have? We will read a selection of Shakespeare's plays, exploring not only their language and structure, but also the way they shaped, and were shaped by, social, economic, and political forces at work in England at the time. ***** INSTRUCTOR: Skura, Meredith Repeatable for Credit.
