The rise of the "golden buckle of the sunbelt"; economic and demographic transformations since the end of the oil boom; the new immigration and its impact on interethnic relations; the changing politics of education, inequality, environmental concerns, inner-city development and regional issues; perspectives on the urban future in the new knowledge-based global economy.
