Description: U.S. WOMEN'S HISTORY I: COLONIAL BEGINNINGS TO THE CIVIL WAR ***** DISTRIBUTION COURSE GROUP 2 ***** This survey of American women's history examines the lives of elite, working, black, Indian, and white women, and traces changes in women's legal, political, and economic status from the mid-17th-century through the Civil War. Readings emphasize women's engagement with Revolutionary politics, slavery, divorce law, temperance agitation, and the origins of American feminism.
