Description: ENGENDERING AMERICAN DEMOCRACY: THE HISTORY OF THE RIGHT TO VOTE ***** This seminar traces the history of American voting rights from the colonial period through the present and focuses our attention on changing ideas about democracy, sovereignty, and consent. In turn we will assess the importance of class, gender, and race to the cultural, political, and legal history of enfranshisement. ***** Enrollment limited to 25. ***** Also offered as HIST 332.
