Long Title:
Department: *Women and Gender Studies*
Grade Mode: Standard Letter
Course Type: Lecture
Credit Hours: 3
Description: GENDERED PERSPECTIVES ON THE LAW ***** This course explores the ways in which law genders and is gendered. Using academic texts, popular media, and legal cases this course provides an introduction to feminist legal theory, critical race feminism, and feminist sociolegal studies. Looking at law from both local and global perspectives, we critiically engage what sociolegal scholars have called "the common place of law" and its relation to larger stuctural forces. While we focus on law in the United States, we also examine gendered perspectives on the law in international and transitional contexts.
