Description: This course will explore the tradition of genre filmmaking, with an emphasis on how the concept of genre situates itself within the evolving system of commercial institutional film and how it is thought of a window on culture and society. The course covers three or more genres from the point of view of nations, transnationalism, ethnic and racial identity, and global culture.
