Description: Take a step back from your English major and learn how to transfer your expertise to the public. The Calderwood Seminars in Public Writing challenges majors in an intimate workshop setting to grow as critics and writers. Topics will vary semester to semester. Throughout the semester, students build a writing portfolio that might include op-eds, book reviews, journal article reviews, coverage of public talks, and interviews with poets and critics. Classes will include collaborative editing workshops, guest lectures from experts in the writing field, and activities to build a strong writing foundation. You have learned how to write for college, now learn how to write for life. Open to English majors or by permission of instructor.
