Description: This course covers various numerical methods for solving partial differential equations: aspects of finite difference methods, finite element methods, finite volume methods, mixed methods, discontinuous Galerkin methods, and meshless methods. Both theoretical convergence and practical implementation of the methods are studied for elliptic and parabolic problems. Cross-list: CAAM 536, CEVE 555, CAAM 452. Recommended Prerequisite(s): CAAM 336 Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for CEVE 455 if student has credit for CEVE 555.
