Description: This course will first provide context for domestic and worldwide energy consumption and then move to an in-depth analysis of renewable and advanced energy technologies that are candidates for aiding the energy transition. The underlying cycles, governing physical phenomena, and operations of those technologies will be analyzed from an engineering perspective, with an emphasis on the thermo/fl uid/heat transfer behavior and the resulting effi ciencies. Economic and environmental analyses will also be applied, as well as site-specifi c considerations for the technologies’ installation and applications (with an emphasis on buildings and transportation). Graduate/Undergraduate Equivalency: MECH 475. Recommended Prerequisite(s): MECH 371 and MECH 481 Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for MECH 565 if student has credit for MECH 475.
