Description: Climate change and energy transition are two defining issues of our society. This course provides students with an overview of the complex interaction between energy, economics, politics, technology and society that determine the energy transition, with a special focus on materials needs to sustain this transition. The course uses a TECOP framework, that utilizes technology, economics, commercial, organizational and political/societal lenses to obtain a nuanced perspective of the energy transition. Cross-list: MSNE 366. Recommended Prerequisite(s): This course is open to Junior and Senior students enrolled in any of the disciplines in the School of Engineering and the School of Natural Sciences. An understanding of thermodynamics and basic chemistry are recommended.
