Description: There is increasing attention on the biological phenomena and engineering opportunities at the mesoscopic scale, which is between the size of a single protein and that of the large organelles. This course will cover a range of these phenomena, such as viral particles, ribosomes, bacterial microcompartments, amyloid fibrils, gas vesicles, and membraneless condensates. Additionally, the course will aim to formulate physical principles behind these phenomena, describe the experimental and computational approaches to study them, and discuss how to engineer these assemblies. Graduate/Undergraduate Equivalency: BIOE 405.
