Description: Special Topics in linguistics. Please contact the department for details on offered topics. SPRING 2023 TOPIC: LANGUAGE DOCUMENTATION. This semester's Special Topics course is an introduction to the practical and theoretical aspects of language documentation and description. We will collaborate with a language consultant to document and describe a language with which students are not familiar. The course will focus on collaborative linguist analysis at all levels of linguistic structure, with additional discussion of methodological and ethical aspects of language documentation. Repeatable for Credit.
