Description: This undergraduate course analyzes French and American culture and identity through transatlantic encounters. We study French intellectuals (Tocqueville, Beauvoir, Baudrillard) who traveled to the US, and images of America in French novels, comic strips, films. We also examine American gazes toward the French. Effective May 15, 2019, this course does not carry D1 credit. Taught in French. Recommended Prerequisite(s): Completion of one 300-level course or permission of instructor
