Description: The course analyzes French and American culture and identity through transatlantic encounters. We study intellectuals' observations of American life (Tocqueville, Beauvoir...) and images of America in French novels, comic strips, films. We also examine American gazes toward the French. Effective May 15, 2019, this course does not carry D1 credit. Taught in French.
