Description: Formerly SPAN 350. Course will analyze the essence of language against the essence of dialects to determine (i) the logical and linguistic rationale behind judgments about language, (ii) social and political factors that lead to various decisions, and (iii) the role of popular beliefs on traditional views of proper language use.
