Description: Students will build rudimentary marimbas based on plans from Carl Dean’s book Making Marimbas. The class will study traditional marimba music from Zimbabwe, drumming rhythms from Ghana and traditional African stories and games. The ensemble will prepare for a final concert in collaboration with the Rice African Student Association (RASA). Repeatable for Credit.
