Description: This course examines the production, distribution, and consumption of food as a medium to understand the relations between large social processes and the practices of everyday life. Topics include: food policy; commodification of food; food security and hunger; food, health and the body; cultural food practices; and alternative food systems. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for SOCI 423 if student has credit for SOCI 523.
