Description: Study of microstructures which occur in metal, the types of processing which produce those microstructures, and how failures result from improper microstructure. The main areas of focus are sample preparation, visible light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, x-ray microanalysis, and nonequilibrium processing. Required for the BS-MSNE. Graduate/Undergraduate Equivalency: MSNE 511.
