Description: First advanced course, uses authentic materials to expose students to difference discourse styles, help them cultivate sociocultural awareness and engage them in purposeful communicative tasks, emphasis on essay writing, oral fluency, and communicative competence. Classical Chinese is also introduced. Upon completion, students are expected to write approximately 1200 Chinese characters. Recommended prerequisite(s): Ability to write 1000 characters. Results of Placement Test or CHIN 312 or CHIN 313 or CHIN 316 or Permission of Instructor.
