Description: Examination of paradigms in Biochemistry and Cell Biology with a focus on the "central dogma" of molecular biology. Recommended strongly for students with Advanced Placement in Biology and designed for prospective BIOC majors. For students with AP credit for BIOS/BIOC 201, this course is strongly recommended as preparation for BIOC 341 (Cell Biology). RESTRICTIONS: If taken one semester before taking any other 300-level BIOC course, this course can count as a Biosciences Group A course (for students following the old curriculum), or as a 300-level Natural Science/Engineering Elective (for those majoring in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. SUMMER INFO ONLY: The summer section of BIOC 300 will be offered as an online course, with the delivery of course material through the edX platform. Google Hangout sessions will occur almost daily to discuss material, cases, articles, and questions, and an online Discussion will also be moderated on all materials. Recommended Prerequisite(s): Recommended strongly for students with Advanced Placement in Biology and designed for prospective BIOC majors.
