Description: Interested in learning about why the U.S. has higher income inequality than 90 other countries? Want to understand why more wealth and income in concentrated in the hands of the top 1%? Curious about why nearly 50% of kids who are born in the poorest quintiles end up in the poorest quintiles? This class offers an explanation of why U.S. income inequality has increased, its effects, and how social mobility, the traditional antidote to inequality has fallen. This course will also discuss policy solutions that effectively reduce the magnitude of these two challenges.
