Description: This course examines ancient Roman political propaganda as a form of historical “forgery.” Drawing connections to modern debates about “fake news,” it examines how three of Rome’s emperors – Augustus, Septimius Severus, and Constantine – used the literature and art of their reigns to promote biased narratives concerning their rise to power.
