Description: The goal of this seminar is to examine critically -from a (socio) linguistic perspective- what is arguably the most influential and pervasive cultural current among youth today. We will analyze hip hope data, drawing from various media, to take on issues including language and power, differences between cultures, and constructing ethnicities. Cross-list: FSEM 103.
