Description: Course content varies from year to year.
Spring 09 Description: This course will serve to introduce the students to basics of natural language processing, understanding and generation. We will cover topics ranging from finite-state automata, to n-gram, Hidden Markov, and Maximum Entropy models. These topics will be extended to part of speech tagging, syntactic and statistical parsing, automatic speech recognition, speech synthesis and information extraction.
