Description: This undergraduate course analyzes French and American culture and identity through transatlantic encounters. We study French intellectuals (Tocqueville, Beauvor, Baudrillard) who traveled to the US, and images of America in French novels, comic strips, films. We also examine American gazes toward the French. The course culminates with a final exam.
