Description: Course traces the evolution of anti-Jewish sentiments that spawned images of the Jew as misanthropic, cannibalistic, conniving, evil, devil-consorts, anti-Christs, Christ-killers, blood-sucking, filthy and conspiratorial in Greco-Roman, Christian, Muslim, and secular culture. Will study the development of anti-Jewish rhetoric and allegory and their transformation into modern Anti-Semitism. Cross-list: RELI 287.
