Description: This class surveys the history of Russian/Soviet cinema from the beginning of the 20th century to the present. We will examine films as part of the broader political and social history of this period, paying particular attention to such issues as aesthetics and politics, entertainment and propaganda, history and memory, and gender and sexuality.
