Description: This course will examine cultural exchange between Europe and islamic world from the fifteenth to the eighteenth centuries. The transmission of aesthetic concepts and visual traditions will be examined via specific patrons, artists, and works of art. Renaissance Italian and Habsburg courts will be compared with their Islamic contemporaries.
