Description: Freshman seminar will focus on the French Revolution and the era of Napoleon Bonaparte, 1789-1815. Lectures address three main topics: the history of the Revolution and its main actors; the diverging interpretations offered by historians; and the multiple legacies of the revolutionary period in the modern era.
