Description: APPLIED QUANTUM MECHANICS ***** Survey the basic principles and methods of quantum mechanics; investigate real problems of contemporary interest, based on solid-state physics and quantum optics. Specific topics: 'spintropic' phenomena and devices, quantum information processing in quantum engineered structures, physics and applications of carbon nanotubes, non-perturbative nonlinear optics, and Bose-Einstein condensation of excitons.
