Graduate seminar exploring recent work in key areas of research on women and gender: nationalism; the modern welfare state; and the challenges which histories of working-class women have posed to definitions of politics, feminism, class, and family. Settings will include colonial and national Britain, India, Africa, Netherlands, Indonesia, France, and Germany.
