Description: FINITE ELEMENT METHODS ***** Graduate version of MECH 417. An introduction to Galerkin's method and the method of least squares applied to partial differential equations. Computational considerations for efficient interpolation, numerical integration, solution and post-processing methods. Error estimation and adaptive finite element analysis. Requires programming for a student project and a supporting literature survey. ***** Prerequisite(s): Graduate student status. ***** Instructor(s): Akin
