Description: QUEER THEORY ***** What is queer theory and why is it important? This course aims to answer these questions by examining key issues in queer theory and situating them in the context of major literary and cultural theories of the past quarter century. As such the course will also serve as an introduction to psychoanalytic theory, poststructualism, deconstruction, postcolonial theory, film studies and recent work on the relationship between science and literature. ***** Also offered as ENGL 498.
