Description: INTRODUCTION TO TAOISM

Beginning with a survey of religious trends in ancient China, we will explore the development of the Taoist philosophy. We will then focus on religious Taoism, particularly the mystical and alchemical traditions. We will conclude by examining the fate of Taoism in post-Mao China and its international legacy.
