Description: This course examines the emergence of religion-based politics in various Asian countries - particularly Hindu and Muslim-focusing on the women participants in these movements as well as the movements' concerns with gender roles in society. We will investigate, for instance, the extant to which women participants have been willing or able to reshape the central ideas of such movements. Cross-list: ASIA 240, SWGS 240.
