Description: This course will examine key medieval works, with special attention to women's writing, focusing on gender construction in mysticism and theology. Primary readings will include works by Hildegard of BinGen, Birgtta of Sweden, Margery Kempe, and others. Graduate work includes extra reading, additional seminars, and a more extended final project. Graduate/Undergraduate Equivalency: RELI 314. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for RELI 551 if student has credit for RELI 314.
