ARTS 489 - MODERNISM BTWN WARS:1918-1940

Long Title: MODERNISM BETWEEN THE WARS: 1918-1940
Department: *Visual and Dramatic Arts*
Grade Mode: Standard Letter
Course Type: Lecture
Credit Hours: 3
Description: The interwar period, as a whole, is the most understudied period of Modernism-due in good part to the fact that it encompasses a violent, and ultimately tragic, period of western history. This course will focus on two major artistic movements between 1918 and 1940: Dada/Surrealism and International Constructivism. Both movements continue to exert an active influence on art and culture to the present day in the visual arts, poetry, and literature, and movies and television. Continuation of ARTS 389.
