Description: From the 1960s to 2000 Germany has developed a very distinct auteur cinema with independent filmmakers such as Fassbinder, Herzog, Wender, Trotta Sander, Brueckner, Doerrie, Garnier, Tykwer and others. The first 20 years of German film were oriented on coming to terms with the fascist past, the second 20 years focused on more contemporary issues.
