Description: After defeating Antony and Cleopatra the emperor Augustus restored stability to Rome, oversaw the expansion of empire, and made Rome a capital city. Study of art and literature of this "Golden Age" will address Augustus' construction of identity, imperial and non-imperial patronage, and the formation of Augustan ideology in Rome and the provinces.
