Description: This course examines the sources of inter-human violence, from murder to man-made mass death. It asks whether (and if so, how) religious belief and practice has got to do with it. It addresses questions raised by sacrifice--human, animal, environmental, spiritual--in anthropological, psychological, literary, political, and philosophical terms.
