Description: Seminar examines role of women in U.S. imperial projects across the 19/20th centuries and the importance of gender and race to the history of "imperial democracy." Topics include continental expansion in the U.S. west, overseas mission in Hawai'i and Caribbean, and colonial projects in Puerto Rice and Philippines.
