Description: This course will explore utopia and how historical future is anticipated in French literature and philosophy; study of the most important utopists (from Cyrano de Berderac to Fourier and Dejacque): the rise of new expectations and fears in a more technical and globalized world (from Jules Verne to the present). Includes sociological, religious and philosophical interpretations of utopia and of the anticipation of the future.
