Description: This interdisciplinary course will focus on major literary and artistic works produced in the British Isles from the end of Roman Britian to the Norman conquest. We will examine the intersection of pictorial and textual themes around important works such as Beowulf and the ship burial at Sutton Hoo or the song of Roland the epic pictorial narrative of the Battle of Hastings in the Bayeux Tapestry.
