Description: Freshman writing seminar will examine the relationship between science (conceived broadly) and religion in western history. Topics include the trial of Galileo, natural theology and design arguments, "scientific" linguistics and the science of race, animal-human hybrids, "stewardship of the earth" environmentalism, technologies of conception and Jewish law.
