Description: MUSICAL MEANING AND THE CLASSICAL STYLE ***** A study of the way in which Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven create large musical forms that have purely musical meaning which does not derive from a text. We will consider various approaches to understanding musical meaning including rhetoric, structure, and style. ***** Enrollment limited to 15.
