Description: VERDI & WAGNER ***** In-depth explanation of two operas of each composer (recent choices are Rigoletto, Falstaff, Tristan und Isolde, & Parsifal), and comparison of the style & influence of the two figures. We also place these composers & works in cultural context, especially nationalism and the "music of the future" debate. ***** Enrollment limited to 15.
